Mentor Graphics Expands Embedded Technology Adoption Program By Offering Certified Technology Providers
BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 4, 2001--Embedded Systems
Conference Boston--Mentor Graphics Corp. (Nasdaq:MENT) today launched
an extension to its Embedded Adoption Technology Program (ETAP) to
provide its licensees with access to complementary technologies and
services.
Through its Certified Technology Providers (CTP) program, Mentor
endorses companies that are recognized as reliable experts in
configuring and customizing embedded system products. The first
announced CTP members, each offering specialized skills and services,
are Sankhya Technologies Private Limited, TekSci Inc. and PEP Modular
Computers.
The Embedded Technology Adoption Program (ETAP) was launched in
June 2001 (See `Mentor Graphics Unveils Embedded Technology Adoption
Program' -- Jun. 13, 2001). Through ETAP, Mentor Graphics provides
semiconductor and intellectual property (IP) vendors with access to
its market-leading embedded software technology, including its XRAY®
Debugger, VRTX® Real-Time Operating System (RTOS) and Microtec®
Compilers. Companies can license the technologies and build customized
development environments tailored for their applications, without
incurring the resource expense of tackling the development task with
an internal tools team.
Mentor's CTP members can ease the software development process by
providing third-party consulting resources to aid in system software
development. ETAP members can access this network of experts to assist
in creation of an embedded software environment built to handle the
specific nuances of their processor or IP technology.
``Since ETAP's highly successful start in June, we've worked on
evaluating a pool of technology experts to help our licensees with the
software development process,'' said Michael Kaskowitz, vice president
and general manager of Mentor's Embedded Software Division. ``The first
companies to be certified by Mentor Graphics deliver a broad range of
technology expertise, ranging from the development of customized debug
environments to real-time operating systems.''
Partners Bring Wealth of Technology to Program
The first three members in the Certified Technology Providers
program offer a range of specialized technologies and services for the
embedded systems arena.
Debugging and Compiler Expertise
Sankhya Technologies, one of India's leading system software
development companies, has demonstrated strong expertise in the area
of compiler and debugger development, porting and maintenance.
``For many years, Mentor Graphics has leveraged our expertise to
help port their industry-leading Microtec Compilers,'' said Gopi Kumar
Bulusu, chief executive officer and vice president of engineering for
Sankhya Technologies Private Limited. ``As a Mentor Graphics®
Certified Technology Provider, we can formally extend our expertise to
Mentor's licensees, aiding them in the difficult task of creating
processor-specific software development environments.
Real-Time Operating System Expertise
PEP Modular Computers and TekSci Inc. both have a longstanding
relationship with Mentor Graphics and their VRTX users. PEP's
expertise covers real-time applications and development environments
for the support of VRTXsa. PEP has taken on many VRTX projects to port
and customized the RTOS technology to new environments and processors.
As a CTP member, PEP will provide ETAP members with continued quality
support for expanding real-time applications into their designs.
TekSci is one of the largest safety-critical software and system
consulting companies in the United States and is nationally recognized
for providing quality support for real-time and software development
applications within the telecommunications, avionics and
transportation and instrumentation industries. Working closely with
Mentor, TekSci will provide ETAP members with complete project
management support for software development needs.
